It is a circular route of medium-border mountain 58 km / 36 miles distance.

The route can be done in a south-north or south, crossing the mountains of the Eastern Pyrenees between the Catalan regions of Ripollès (Girona) and High Vallespir (Languedoc-Roussillon, FRANCE).

For a full experience we recommend our package of 11 days and 12 nights including trekking over five guided excursions to the most relevant area.

For those who have less time we also have options for the route in 6-days / 7-nights, four-days / 5-nights or 3-days / 4-nights for most athletes.

You can make your choice based on your interests, time available and the rate of progress that is most comfortable.

Hiking and History is a Cultural Tourism project in the Eastern Pyrenees inspired by the paths and frontier crossings in the steps of Jewish exiles during the Second World War, fleeing to Spain to escape the Nazi Holocaust (1940-1945), and of the Spanish republicans at the end of their Civil War, crossing to France to escape the Francoist troops (1939). A look back at history and a way of discovering the richness of the cultural heritage the region has to offer.
